On the third day of Christmas my true love made for me…JOY. For a few years I have been photographing my friends and their families for Christmas. I make props and setup photo areas in my house. I made these JOY letter last year for the photoshoot, after which one of my kids broke the J. Which promoted me to yell “stop breaking my JOY”.
If you want to make your own JOY, (at least in letter form) and you have kids that might mess with your JOY, I suggest using wood letters as the base. You can buy the letters from craft stores, or if you want to go for the budget version use foam core.
Materials
- White Foam core, or wood letters
- Computer/printer
- Yarn
- Glue gun
Instructions
- Use Microsoft Word, to choose a font for the letters, and print as large as you like. I made mine about 12″ high. Print out the letters and cut out to make a stencil.
- Trace the letters onto foam core and cut with an exacto knife. To make them extra stiff use two layers of foam core.
- Wrap the letters with yarn using hot glue to secure
